Host Yazdani Club-73 beat Odisha Homeguard (Cuttack) 5-3 in the floodlit final, via tie-breaker to regain the trophy after a gap of two years in the 15th All-Odisha Satyabrata Memorial Yazadani Cup Football Tournament here at Kalinga Stadium tonight. Play in the regulation time ended in goalless draw as both the sides failed to capitalise on scoring chances that came their way.
In the penalty shoot-out, Club-73 converted all five of their spot kicks through Khiradhar Soy, Sashi Toppo, Rupai Hansdah, Santosh Tudu and Santosh Nayak, while Seikh Kamaluddin, Seikh Moin and Jagannath Nayak tasted success for Odisha Homeguard. Lady luck smiled on Club-73 as Mohamma Miraz Khalid wasted Odisha Homeguard`s fourth penalty kick by shooting wide.
The champion team received a cash prize of Rs 60,000, while the runners-up settled with Rs 30,000. Club-73 captain Kedarnath Singh bagged a Honda Twister as the man of the tournament. Santosh Tudu, Usta Jani, Gagan Bhoi, Santosh Nayak (all Club-73); Seikh Moin and Seikh Kamaluddin (both Odisha Homeguard) pocketed Rs 5,000 each as the man of the match, best upcoming player, best defender, best forward, best mid-fielder and best goalkeeper respectively.
